Uni Sync

Privacy notice

Effective 7 September 2026

This notice describes the personal desktop utility Uni Sync and these information pages.

Data used by the utility

Uni Sync reads course and assignment information, file metadata and selected PDFs from the owner's Canvas account. It reads the Google Calendar events it manages, including event identifiers, titles, dates, descriptions and reminder settings. It creates and updates deadline events in the calendar selected by the owner.

Purpose and sharing

The utility uses this information to organise the owner's study files and keep assessment deadlines current. It exchanges data with Canvas and Google as necessary for that purpose. The owner may use Insync to transfer local study files and overview documents to their own Google Drive. Uni Sync does not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or use it to train general-purpose artificial intelligence models.

Uni Sync's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Storage and retention

Access credentials are used locally; the Canvas token and Google refresh token are stored in the Linux desktop keyring. The laptop also stores OAuth client configuration, a sync-state database, logs, downloaded documents and a local deadline overview. These remain until the owner removes them. Copies in Google Calendar, Google Drive and any backups remain until removed through those services or backup tools.

Control and deletion

The owner can stop the local sync timers, revoke Uni Sync's Google access in their Google Account connections, revoke the Canvas token in Canvas settings, and remove local credentials and files. Revoking access stops future authorised sync; it does not automatically erase existing documents, events or backups. Those can be deleted separately by the owner.

These pages

These static pages do not receive calendar data, course materials or sign-in credentials. No analytics or forms have been added by Uni Sync. The website hosting provider may process ordinary request information to deliver and protect the pages under its own policies.
